Abstract

This analysis looks into the impact of communication skills among students taking English language courses through the internet. It utilizes some concepts of communicative language teaching, social constructivism, and computer-mediated communication to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of online language learning. The results indicate that online English language courses may offer authentic language use, individualized instruction, and greater accessibility, but there are also some restrictions, such as little to no face-to-face contact, technical difficulties, and problems with self-motivation. This study makes suggestions for the design and delivery of online courses, as well as other ways to improve the learning experience. The study adds to the literature on learning a language through the internet and offers recommendations for the use of technology to improve teaching and learning English as it is a foreign language by educators, policymakers, and learners.
